9/11-The Biggest Change for America

So September 11th came and went, but did anyone really notice? That day changes so many things for the American Citizen and for the world yet the only time it's remembered anymore is actually on September 11th if anyone actually pays attention.

Immediately after 9/11 this country became very united but now we could careless and take less part in out countries law making. Shortly after 9/11 the Patriot Act was signed and basically gave all out rights over to the government, allowing them to tap telephone lines and read e-mails easier. I understand that they do not listen in on every conversation, but thats not the point, it was so easy for that bill to be passed and now it's even easier. The government thinks they can do what ever they like....and you know what? They're right.

The citizens of this country dont act as if they want a democracy anymore, they are to wrapped up in their own little lives to take part in the governments decisions. This democracy is supposed to be of the people, by the people and for the people; but instead its uneducated people voting in greedy politicians who then vote for the important stuff. So just because we vote in the senators doesnt mean they represent us, especially considering how much the population has grown, two from every state cant possibly represent this country actually.

The citizens of this country need to take it back. Im not proposing a bloody battle for power but let the ideas of the next generation start playing, rather than saying the children are our future. Many of these "children" are turning 18 and wont get the chance to change the future because they wont be children any more, and according to adults only the future leaders can do anything about our crises, why cant they do anything now?!

Police of the World- Police of US!

So, many Americans know that the United States likes to get their big fat nose in everyone elses business. We (the government) have to make sure that every other country in the world behaves, or else we come in with our guns and say "Stop, or we'll shoot!" I do not understand how its our business. Before any of our policing happened, other countries could careless about us, now most of them probably hate us; (Isn't that nice) causing us to constantly be paranoid that someones gonna try and attack us. It is not our place to start revolutions and stir up trouble! Then we're just copying what countries did at the beginning of Americas history, and doing it for personal gain. I understand thats human nature but if America preaches perfection why not at least attempt to practice it?

Now Im gonna address the topic alil closer to home. The American government is corrupt. I dont care who the president is. It's corrupt. If i recall correctly congress can practically have life terms as long as they get voted in again. They use the power they have to keep that power. And according to what i learned in American History they are the ones voting stuff in, the president can veto it...but come on, why should he? His peers are all saying let it pass. We need people who can relate to the average American citizens, not stuffy old, rich, and powerful people.

Then its those old stuffy people that control our school system. Regulating what students learn. Did you know that in my school district they are sending lesson plans to every single teacher, and they have to follow those plans, excluding AP classes. Then there are embedded assessments for underclassmen every other week or so for the FCAT. The whole point of school is to learn, not be drilled the same thing over and over again.
